The Skills Guarantee discussion paper on setting targets for major ICT projects is now available. The Department of Employment and Workplace Relations invites you to read the discussion paper and make a submission. You can also sign up to take part in our online roundtables.
The Skills Guarantee leverages the Australian Government’s significant purchasing power to help address skills shortages and gender segregation in the construction and ICT sectors. The Skills Guarantee sets national targets for apprentices, trainees, paid cadets and women working on eligible Australian Government-funded major projects. Since 1 July 2024, Skills Guarantee targets apply to new Australian Government-funded construction and ICT procurements with an estimated individual value of $10 million or more.
Public consultations: Have your say
The discussion paper seeks your feedback on proposed targets for women, apprentices and other ‘learning workers’ employed on major ICT projects.
You can submit your feedback on the Australian Skills Guarantee page on the Consultation Hub by 5pm Australian Eastern Daylight Time (AEDT), Wednesday 4 December 2024.
Online roundtables for stakeholders are also being held from 26-29 November 2024.
Submit your feedback and register for a session
The targets are proposed to be included in a revised Skills Guarantee Procurement Connected Policy and are anticipated to commence from 1 July 2025.
