The Commonwealth Grants Rules and Principles 2024 (CGRPs) is largely principles-based but contains some important mandatory requirements around developing grant opportunity guidelines, briefing ministers, recording decisions, publishing and reporting.
The Australian Government Grants Framework provides transparency, accountability and flexibility in grants administration to achieve government policy outcomes and ensure equitable access of grants to and for the benefit of the Australian public. The CGRPs establish the requirements for all non-corporate Commonwealth entities (NCEs) (and third parties undertaking grant administration on their behalf).
The CGRPs set the overarching Commonwealth grants policy framework and articulate the expectations of all non-corporate Commonwealth entities. These principles are supported by the Public Governance, Performance and Accountability Rule 2014 (PGPA Rule). The Department's grant administration aligns with the whole of government grants policy framework.
Grants entered into from 31 December 2017 are published on GrantConnect.
All grant opportunities that are open for application will be published on GrantConnect.
