Trends in Federal Enterprise Bargaining (Trends report) is a quarterly report containing data about the number of enterprise agreements made in the federal workplace relations system. It also contains data about the number of employees covered and the level of wage increases included in collective agreements.

The data in the report is obtained from our workplace agreements database. The database contains information about every federal collective agreement made since formal enterprise bargaining in federal workplace relations began in 1991.
The most recent Trends report is the June quarter 2024 report, which was published on 27 September 2024. Trends reports are generally published about 3 months apart.

Interpreting the data
To interpret data in these tables correctly it is important to read the technical notes included at the end of the Trends reports. Supplementary papers that provide detailed analysis of specific subjects are also useful to understand the data in the Trends reports.

Non-quantifiable wage increases in federal enterprise agreements
To interpret data in the published Trends in Federal Enterprise Bargaining is a quarterly report technical notes are included at the end of the Trends reports. Supplementary papers that provide detailed analysis of specific subjects are also useful to understand the data in the reports.
Report on Enterprise Bargaining - February 2017
As shown in recent Trends in Federal Enterprise Bargaining quarterly report, there has been a decline in the number of private sector agreements. However, coverage in the public sector has not changed significantly. This paper focuses on the private sector and reports on the observed trend in greater detail including by agreement size, industry and union coverage.
Historical data
The following table contains all wage increase data for agreements made from 1991 onwards, disaggregated by industry (ANZSIC 2006).
