General Employee Entitlements and Redundancy Scheme (GEERS)

The Australian Government provides assistance to people owed certain outstanding employee entitlements following the liquidation or bankruptcy of employers, this help is available through the Fair Entitlements Guarantee (FEG).

About the scheme

The Fair Entitlements Guarantee (FEG) came into effect on 5 December 2012 and applies to employer insolvency events that occurred on or after that date. More information about FEG is available.

Where the employer's insolvency event occurred prior to 5 December 2012, in limited circumstances assistance may still be available under the predecessor General Employee Entitlements and Redundancy Scheme (GEERS). From 23 March 2017, GEERS Online Services is no longer available. Please contact the department about the progress of your GEERS claim, review or appeal.
