The Local Recovery Fund is available in 51 Employment Regions (regions).

The Local Recovery Fund supports locally driven activities that:

  • meet priorities identified in the region’s Local Jobs Plan
  • are tailored to the opportunities and needs identified in the region
  • address employment and training priorities; and
  • skill individuals to meet local employer demand.

Local Recovery Fund activities are usually sought via a Request for Proposal procurement process. If you are interested in developing a Local Recovery Fund proposal, contact your local Employment Facilitator.

Disability Support Worker activity

This activity involved the delivery of an online, tailored training course—as co-designed with local disability care employers to ensure alignment with local industry needs and role requirements—to prepare 36 participants for entry-level roles in the disability care sector, as well as participant mentoring and career coaching. The activity also facilitated the placement of participants within the disability care sector.

Entry into Care Roles Program

The activity involved pre-employment training on the key requirements for disability care sector roles for up to 60 participants. The activity will target youth, culturally and linguistically diverse and Indigenous participants and aims to secure employment outcomes for up to 40 participants with local disability sector employers.

Food & Fibre Career Tasting Trail

The activity was held across 3 locations to showcase the opportunities available in food and fibre careers, including accessible pathways to enter the workforce. Each event featured a panel discussion with local employers and provided opportunities for questions by participants.

Forklift Skills Booster Program

The activity involved forklift operating, employability skills, and employer onboarding tailored to local industry and employer needs. Participants were linked to job placement opportunities and mentoring supports were provided to participants throughout all project delivery phases. The activity was focussed on refugee, culturally and linguistically diverse, female, and youth participants.

Fresh Start & Transformation Program

The aim of the project was to deliver specialised employment, personal empowerment, and mental health support workshops in a culturally appropriate manner. Frames that are common across African cultures was utilised to engage participants, to invoke a sense of confidence, resilience and self-belief.

Gippsland Region Direct Care Workforce Traineeship Program

The activity involved delivery of an eight-week training course to prepare participants for entry-level employment in traineeship carer roles within the health care sector. The training course was co-designed with local health care employers to deliver accredited and non-accredited training in alignment with local industry needs and role requirements.
