The Local Recovery Fund is available in 51 Employment Regions (regions).

The Local Recovery Fund supports locally driven activities that:

  • meet priorities identified in the region’s Local Jobs Plan
  • are tailored to the opportunities and needs identified in the region
  • address employment and training priorities; and
  • skill individuals to meet local employer demand.

Local Recovery Fund activities are usually sought via a Request for Proposal procurement process. If you are interested in developing a Local Recovery Fund proposal, contact your local Employment Facilitator.

Sydney South West Rail Project

The activity was an intense 8 week protection officer and hand signalling training program for participants to become qualified as a Protection Officer Level 2 worker (P02) in the rail industry and gaining ongoing employment on completion.

The Regional Care Workforce Collaborative

This activity intended to address negative perceptions inhibiting job seekers from taking up opportunities in aged care and disability services. It promoted working in the sector through a multi-media campaign, facilitated entry of interested and suitable job seekers into relevant training, and directly linked job seekers with employers in the sector.

The activity provided culturally adapted 6-week pre-employment training programs to support First Nations women (aged 17+) in the Dubbo/Wellington area to access construction and earthmoving positions, in addition to key life and professional self-management skills, to transition them to full employment.

Warehouse Ready Employment Program

A pre-employment training program with industry-specific and soft skills training to help participants successfully gain entry-level positions as pick and pack or general hands. Participants also received up to 3 months of structured mentoring and wrap-around services.

Working on Within (WOW) program

The activity delivered training over 2 weeks to build the motivation, confidence, empowerment and work readiness of participants. Participants learnt self-protection strategies and techniques, conflict resolution and work on emotional intelligence.

Civil Construction Short Course

The activity involves upskilling participants for entry level opportunities in civil construction and road works industries during a three month training course that delivers 10 units of competency and work exposure. Upon successful completion of the course, participants will be offered appropriate employment opportunities in relevant industries.

The activity involves upskilling and employing up to 15 Indigenous participants through a 4-week training course, which includes employability skills workshops, personal capacity building, vocational training, and practical assistance. On completion of the course, participants will be offered employment with Wilson Security and comprehensive on the job mentoring for up to 6 weeks.
