The Hon Brendan O’Connor MP, Minister for Skills and Training, has announced the newly established Jobs and Skills Australia (JSA) Ministerial Advisory Board, showcasing a commitment to providing strategic advice to the Minister for Skills and Training and the Jobs and Skills Australia Commissioner.
The Ministerial Advisory Board, established as part of the legislative requirements for JSA, will provide crucial support to the JSA Commissioner in developing independent advice to the Government. The Board will consist of a Chair, Deputy Chairs, and members representing various sectors to ensure a balanced tripartite partnership.
- Chair Appointment: Ms Cath Bowtell, with her wealth of experience in the superannuation industry and union movement, will serve as the Chair for a three-year term.
- Deputy Chair Appointments: Megan Lilly, Head of Workforce Development for The Australian Industry Group, and Liam O’Brien, Assistant Secretary for the Australia Council of Trade Unions, have been appointed as Deputy Chairs for two years, ensuring representation from employer and employee organisations.
- State and Territory Representatives - Ms Lilly Healy and Ms Jodie Wallace.
- Employer Group Representatives - Mr Luke Achterstraat, Mr Bran Black and Ms Natalie Heazlewood.
- Employee Group Representatives - Ms Annie Butler, Mr Andrew Dettmer and Ms Correna Haythorpe.
- Members (not representing employee or employer organisations) – Professor Jack Beetson, Professor Rae Cooper AO, Ms El Gibbs, Ms Nyadol Nyuon OAM.
