Over 100 stallholders/exhibitors which ranged from government services, community services, to providers and employers were available to speak with individuals at the recent Western Adelaide Jobs Expo.
On 20 March 2024, the Adelaide North Local Jobs Employment Facilitator, Rosslyn Ward, and Support Officer, Michelle Scanlan, together with the City of Charles Sturt and City of Port Adelaide Enfield, hosted the third Western Adelaide Jobs Expo at the Sunnybrae Estate Function Centre in the region’s northern suburbs.
Local Jobs Employment Facilitators are on-the-ground in 51 Employment Regions, and play a pivotal role in bringing together businesses, employment and skills services and community organisations to connect people to training, jobs and support services.
Approximately 100 stallholders/exhibitors, ranging from government services to community services, and providers to employers, attended the expo to showcase job opportunities in the following industries:

The event was attended by approximately 2000 individuals, employers, students and other people interested in looking for work, switching careers or talking with employers about employment and training opportunities in the region. Attendees at the event were provided with access to a large jobs board with live job opportunities.
The Employment Facilitator also arranged a separate breakout area where individuals could sit with Employment Consultants from all four Workforce Australia providers to participate in a live Resume Writing and Career Advice Workshops. Printing facilities were available as well as a professional photo booth for participants to have a headshot taken for their LinkedIn profile.
A number of presentation workshops were also delivered, including a valuable panel discussion facilitated by DEWR Employer Liaison Officer, Sharon Clarke. The workshop, What Employers Want and Future Industries, featured prominent employers speaking about their skills and experiences and providing their insight into the needs and expectations of employers.
DEWR SA Office were exhibitors at the expo. Staff from Employment Services and the National Careers Institute were on hand to promote and discuss the Workforce Australia Services contracts as well as share work being done by the Indigenous Liaison Officer, Skills (Apprenticeships/Traineeships), SEE Program and the National Careers Institute.
