Public consultation period now extended for the review of the Safety, Rehabilitation and Compensation Act 1988

The independent panel for the review wants to hear your feedback on the Safety, Rehabilitation and Compensation Act 1988, to better understand the experiences of injured workers and other stakeholders with the Comcare scheme.

The independent panel conducting the review has released an issues paper that includes questions to help guide your response. Visit the Consultation Hub to download the paper and find out more.

The timeframe for responses has been extended: submissions now due by 20 December 2024 and survey responses due by 31 January 2025.

The review will address all aspects of the scheme, including governance, usability and entitlements and provide recommendations to modernise the scheme.

The review is being conducted by an experienced independent panel, chaired by Ms Justine Ross, with panel members Professor Robin Creyke and Mr Greg Isolani.  Further details on the panel members are available.

The panel would like to hear from:

  • Injured workers or family members of injured workers who have lived experience of the Comcare scheme.
  • Other participants directly involved in the workers’ compensation scheme, such as employers of an injured worker, claims managers, rehabilitation providers and health care providers.
  • Peak representative bodies and organisations.
  • Legal representatives, insurers, actuaries and academics with experience in workers’ compensation.
