John has extensive experience in health, aged care and retirement living with senior management experience spanning 25 years. He commenced his career as a Registered Nurse specialising in mental health. RAAFA has gone through a major transformation over the past six years, now employing 750 staff, with 450 aged care beds, 1440 retirement units, community-based services and DVA services.
John was previously the Chair of Aged Care and Community Services WA, and a Director of ACSA National. He continues to be Chair of the Audit, Financial and Risk Committee. ACSA represents not-for-profit providers across Australia.
Emma Weston – Director, Digital Skills Organisation Pilot and CEO & Co Founder, AgriDigital
AgriDigital is an Australian start-up that uses new technology to digitise and de-risk agricultural supply chains. With new releases planned and underway in Australia, AgriDigital launched its platform in the United States of America in 2019 and will launch in Canada in 2020. As AgriDigital’s CEO and co-founder, Emma leads all aspects of the business’ strategy, stakeholder engagement, blockchain and talent management with oversight of the sales, broader technology and operational environments. Her diverse career experience includes lawyer, agribusiness executive, start-up mentor and executive coach.
In 2017, Emma was recognised as the Female Fintech Leader of the Year in Australia and was also named a Top 25 Fintech Influencer by Finder.com.au. Emma is a former director of the Australian Digital Commerce Association and former Deputy Chair of FinTech Australia Ltd.
Gavin Lind – Chair, Mining Skills Organisation Pilot Working Group and General Manager Safety, Workforce and Innovation at the Minerals Council of Australia.
Gavin was awarded the 2013 LH Martin Award for Excellence in Leadership in Higher Education for his work in promoting minerals education at multiple governmental, institutional, and corporate levels. Gavin has held various professional roles in industry, academia and government in both South Africa and Australia, and is a stand-up comedian in his spare time.
Tom Moore, Director, Digital Skills Organisation Pilot and CEO, WithYouWithMe
Tom Moore is the CEO of WithYouWithMe (WYWM) and has previously held executive roles with Mentorconnect and OneAffiniti, a digital marketing agency, following service with the Australian Army. WYWM is a military veteran training and outplacement company, founded by veterans to train veterans to fill skills gaps in industry. WYWM was launched in December 2016 to promote and support the outplacement of veterans looking to transition from the military into civilian life and employment in the private sector. One sector of focus for WYWM is cyber security. WithYouWithMe is named as number one on the 2019 Asia Pacific Technology Fast 500™.
Catherine McGrath - Moderator
Catherine McGrath is a policy, engagement, and advocacy expert and in-demand facilitator. She is a giant of the Australian media and the founder of the BusinessSpeaking training program that support and train professional speakers across the country. Catherine also provides media training to leaders and executives in the private sector and Government agencies. During three decades of reporting, Catherine was political editor for both the ABC and SBS television and was the ABC’s South East Asia Correspondent based in Singapore. Catherine is a recipient of the Centenary of Federation Medal for Services to Society through Journalism and the ABC Reuters Foundation Scholarship to study international affairs at Oxford University.
