The project is available to all Workforce Australia Services, Workforce Australia Online and Transition to Work participants from a CALD background (including refugees), with places available from 2024 to 2026.
The project seeks to increase access to meaningful job opportunities and career pathways for CALD job seekers, as well as building cultural capability among retail businesses. The project involves:
Employer support services
- Cultural Confidence Workshops for hiring managers in retail
- development of a Hiring Manager’s Toolkit, including practical guides and resources for employers to support increased recruitment of people from a CALD background
- a series of jobs and skills masterclass and networking events, bringing together retail employers and people looking for work in the industry.
CALD job seeker services
- Retail Career Information Sessions to highlight the roles available and benefits of the project
- an Employer-led Pre-employment Training Program that includes:
- 5 Individual job support coaching sessions and a corresponding individual job support coaching plan for each participant
- employer specific training
- paid work placements
- 6 months of post placement support
- production of a Retail Industry Factsheet, translated into 10 languages.
