Noeleen
Organisation: MTC Australia
State/Territory of training: Central Coast, NSW
Noeleen had been working as a housekeeper at a small, family-run motel when the COVID-19 lockdown changed everything. Unfortunately, she lost her job and found herself facing nearly two years of unemployment. As time passed, her confidence diminished, and she feared that, at 60 years old, she might never find work again.
Determined to turn things around, Noeleen enrolled in the SEE Program. From the start, she discovered that age was no barrier to learning new skills or gaining employment. Through working in pairs and groups Noeleen quickly gained confidence with improved communication, presentation and computer skills.
Noeleen’s renewed self-confidence helped her realise she had so much to offer. After completing the SEE Program through MTC Gosford, Noeleen secured a role at an exclusive four-and-a-half-star resort and golf course. Now, she’s thoroughly enjoying her new housekeeping job, zipping around the resort in a golf buggy, attending to her duties, and truly enjoying work life once again.

Michael
Organisation: STEPS
State/Territory of training: Cairns, QLD
Michael, a mature-aged Torres Strait Islander man, joined the SEE Program with the goal of enhancing his employability skills. Through SEE, he gained not only valuable experience but also a renewed sense of confidence in his abilities.
During his time in the SEE Program, Michael had the unique opportunity to participate in a hands-on learning project, which was the creation of a five-meter hand-painted mural on the back wall of the STEPS campus in Cairns. This project emphasised skill development, diversity, and teamwork, providing an immersive and collaborative learning experience.
Michael played a key role in both the planning and execution of the mural. He developed a wide range of skills, including material planning, budgeting, time management, role allocation, motivation, and design layout. His dedication and leadership carried the project through to its successful unveiling and launch event. Michael said he feels...
“a sense of pride in what we achieved in a short amount of time.”
Through the SEE Program, Michael has not only expanded his skill set but also gained the confidence to pursue new opportunities. With a growing portfolio and a fresh outlook on his potential, he is excited for what the future holds.
