The international education sector is important to Australia. The Australian Government wants to provide a better and fairer system that supports the entire sector to benefit from international education.

Arrangements to improve the integrity and sustainability of the international education sector are set out in the Education Services for Overseas Students Amendment (Quality and Integrity) Bill 2024. This Bill has not passed Parliament in time for arrangements to be implemented by 1 January 2025.
As a result, Ministerial Direction 107 will remain in place to manage considerations of student visa applications in an orderly fashion. For further information please see the Department of Home Affairs: Ministerial Direction No. 107.
