Employment White Paper – Government reform of Local Jobs Program

As part of the Employment White Paper, the Government is undertaking a reform process of the Local Jobs program. This aims to embed best practice policy design and support more people seeking work.

Initial changes will enhance flexibility to better help individuals, businesses and communities. Changes include:

  • broadening eligibility for Local Recovery Fund projects to include more people
  • supporting Local Jobs and Skills Taskforces in representing their community
  • strengthening Australian Government delivery of Employment Facilitator services in three micro Employment Regions, and
  • enhancing local and regional data and information to inform decision-making processes.

The Australian Government is also exploring options for the future design of the Local Jobs program.
