The Local Recovery Fund is available in 51 Employment Regions (regions).

The Local Recovery Fund supports locally driven activities that:

  • meet priorities identified in the region’s Local Jobs Plan
  • are tailored to the opportunities and needs identified in the region
  • address employment and training priorities; and
  • skill individuals to meet local employer demand.

Local Recovery Fund activities are usually sought via a Request for Proposal procurement process. If you are interested in developing a Local Recovery Fund proposal, contact your local Employment Facilitator.

The activity supported youth and cultural and linguistically diverse participants with a comprehensive understanding of essentials skills, knowledge and competencies required by warehouse general hands and pick packers, including forklift training and licencing with individualised support and immediate employment opportunities in warehousing.

This activity involved participants completing non-accredited pre-employment units, followed by individually tailored mentoring to gain and retain employment in the Fitzroy Employment Region. Culturally appropriate mentoring was provided to participants though the Actional Yarns Program, with habit and behaviour change coaching activities designed to improve participants' engagement and employability skills. The supplier engaged with local employers to source suitable employment opportunities.

Fraser Coast Direct Care Workforce Traineeship Program

The activity involved maximising employment pathways into the health care sector for participants to reskill and upskill them into high demand vacancies by way of a recognised skillset of four units from a Certificate III in Individual Support, and transition support into paid employment as trainees.

"Game On" was a 3-week pre-employment program blending youth-oriented activities with the aim of developing routine, building confidence and progressively introducing job seeking activities. Participants were linked with opportunities for employment, including apprenticeships and traineeships, or progress towards employment by enrolling in accredited training.

Gold Coast and Wivenhoe Cleaning Industry Initiative

The activity was designed to meet cleaning industry labour needs in the Gold Coast and Wivenhoe Employment Regions. It will see job seekers referred to the activity who will be provided with job readiness support, pre-employment skills and accredited training and referred to entry-level or supervisory role vacancies in the cleaning industry.

Hospitality Head Start!

The activity was co-designed to deliver a pre-employment hospitality focused training program made up of accredited training from the Hospitality Services Skill Set, combined with foundational skills.

It delivered eight weeks of pre-employment training to support job seekers into employment, as trainees, with local health care and social services agencies in the Wivenhoe Employment Region.

This activity delivered a six-week employment pathway program to 20 Indigenous participants including: four weeks of the ‘Deadly Me' life skills program, select hospitality or construction accredited training units and two weeks of transitional support meeting employment requirements of local partner employers towards gaining employment outcomes. Individually tailored mentoring was provided for an additional six months towards gaining or sustaining employment with partner employers in the Mackay Employment Region.
