The Local Recovery Fund is available in 51 Employment Regions (regions).

The Local Recovery Fund supports locally driven activities that:

  • meet priorities identified in the region’s Local Jobs Plan
  • are tailored to the opportunities and needs identified in the region
  • address employment and training priorities; and
  • skill individuals to meet local employer demand.

Local Recovery Fund activities are usually sought via a Request for Proposal procurement process. If you are interested in developing a Local Recovery Fund proposal, contact your local Employment Facilitator.

This activity involved a peer supported environment for women to undertake employability skills training, combined with vocational training focused on cleaning roles in the care sector. This activity focused on women in the South Eastern Melbourne and Peninsula Employment Region, to facilitate placements for participants into paid traineeships in the cleaning sector or other employment opportunities.

The PowerUp Program

This activity involved the delivery of resilience and employability skills training to participants to build their capacity in securing and maintaining employment. The activity also provided support for participants to attain their driver's licence as well as microfinancing information and support. This included assistance to acquire a vehicle, and aimed to provide participants with long-term personalised transport solutions to support sustained employment outcomes. Additionally, the activity included facilitated job placements in the cleaning sector in response to the increased demand for services driven by COVID-19.

Unbeatable Customer Service – Contact Centre

This activity involved delivery of pre-accredited job readiness training tailored to the job role requirements of contact centre employers. The three-week training prepared participants for a variety of local contact centre roles, together with facilitated job placements. Course curriculum was co-designed with local employers and training organisations to align with local industry needs and role requirements.

Working on Within (WOW) program

Introduction to Welding Training Program

The activity will provide participants an opportunity to develop fundamental welding skills, combining theoretical knowledge with practical skills to enable entry level employment in welding and fabrication. The skills learnt are transferable across the automotive, mining, fabrication, and agriculture industries. Participants will complete training over 2 days, 8 hours per day and will be delivered in Northam and Katanning.
