Join us next week during National Careers Week as we celebrate the many varied careers and career development opportunities available across Australia.

Held annually, National Careers Week is an initiative led by the Career Industry Council of Australia (CICA), and the department’s National Careers Institute (NCI) proudly returns as a premier partner this year. The NCI ensures Australians have access to reliable and accurate careers information and resources on the Your Career website.

It can be a challenge to fully define the term ‘career’ as it’s a BIG concept. Here are some ways it can be explained:

  • A career is: ongoing, your job, your occupation, your profession, and a culmination of your skills, training, education and life experience.
  • A career is: your development, accomplishments, achievements, and personal and professional growth.
  • A career is: lifelong learning, filled with choices and opportunities over the course of your life.

Your career is a journey and there are many pathways that you can take. Exploring opportunities and making informed decisions is part of the experience.

Get involved

Throughout National Careers Week, there are a range of activities hosted by schools, employers and other organisations all around Australia. Explore the schedule of free events being held throughout the week on the National Careers Week website.
