Building Women’s Careers Program – Stream Two Partnership Projects Announced

Following the announcement of the Stream One industry-led partnership projects, the Stream Two community-led projects for the Building Women’s Careers (BWC) Program have been announced today!

The Australian Government is investing $60.6 million in the BWC Program to drive systemic structural and cultural change in training and work environments critical to a Future Made in Australia.

A list of the partnership projects leading the charge in the community sector is available below.

STEMpower CyberThrive: Rewriting the rules in male dominated techTakes on the systemic roadblocks that keep women out of cybersecurity vocational education and jobs, from entry into the workplace through to advancement into leadership positions.
EmpowerHer Pathways: See what you can beCreates sustainable, gender-inclusive pathways and mentoring networks for women in renewable energy, advanced manufacturing, construction and digital technology in the Hunter region of NSW.
ManufactHER; Empowering Women, Transforming Advanced ManufacturingLeverages local partnerships in the Central Coast region of NSW to provide tailored support, boost women’s skilled participation, improve workplace culture and foster sustainable inclusion in advanced manufacturing.
Gippsland Women’s Fellowship Project: Building women’s clean energy careersProvides a jobs pathway, equips employers to build gender inclusive environments and tailors a clean energy VET training program for women through regional partnerships and expertise in the Gippsland region of Victoria.
Indigenous women in construction across Arnhem Land, Northern TerritoryRaises awareness of local career pathways in construction and provides tailored training and jobs for Indigenous women and school leavers across Arnhem Land in the Northern Territory.
Rise & Build: Empowering Women's CareersCombines tailored training, workforce development and recruitment solutions to break barriers, enhance diversity and deliver lasting opportunities in the Riverina Murray region of NSW.
Great South Coast Construction Careers for Women ProgramDelivers a set of resources, training and leadership programs that will develop the construction and clean energy sectors capacity to attract, train and retain women in the South West Coast region of Victoria.
SeeHERAddresses the underrepresentation of women in Tasmania’s construction industry through a 4-part initiative to tackle specific challenges, foster inclusivity and provide women with the tools to achieve lasting success in the industry.
The Next Wave: Women’s Tech TransitionsCreates accessible pathways to increase women’s participation in the digital and technology industries by promoting mid-career transitions through VET, microcredentials and industry-specific training.

Totalling $9.5 million in funding, these partnership projects will provide on-the-ground support for women entering and progressing through the male-dominated industries of clean energy, construction, advanced manufacturing and digital and technology.

Minister for Skills and Training, the Hon Andrew Giles, said “The projects that I’m announcing today focus on driving community engagement, reaching women at a grassroots level. We’re doing this to address the structural and cultural barriers that far too often stop women from even thinking about starting a career in construction, clean energy, advanced manufacturing, and digital and technology."
