The Australian Government has released the Outcomes Framework, designed to measure the success and progress of Australia’s vocational education and training (VET) sector.
The Outcomes Framework will be central to monitoring progress against the outcomes identified in the National Skills Agreement (NSA).
The Outcomes Framework includes a range of indicators and measures to provide a comprehensive view of the VET sector’s performance. This data-driven approach will enable informed decision-making and priority setting, contributing to a more transparent and accountable VET system.
The Outcomes Framework will play a vital role in:
- Monitoring outcomes and progress against population and system-level measures and indicators.
- Providing insights on the progress in achieving national priorities.
- Informing evidence-based reviews of, and updates to, the National Skills Plan.
- Shaping the development of the Jurisdictional Action Plans.
The Outcomes Framework is an evolving document committed to evidence-based evaluation and continuous improvement towards addressing Australia’s evolving skills needs.
It has been developed in close collaboration with all jurisdictions and Jobs and Skills Australia, and future iterations will be informed by the views of key stakeholders including First Nations partners and Jobs and Skills Councils to ensure it remains relevant.
