From 1 July 2024, national targets will apply to major Australian Government construction and ICT projects for apprentices, trainees, paid cadets and women under the implementation of the Australian Skills Guarantee Procurement Connected Policy (PCP).

The Skills Guarantee PCP applies to all Australian Government construction and ICT procurements with a total contract value of $10 million or more and provides instructions for all parties undertaking in-scope projects.

Relevant entities are required to play an ongoing role in the management, compliance and reporting of Australian Skills Guarantee procurement activities. This includes, reporting to our department on the progress of contracts and compliance of the new national targets.

To help contracting agencies and suppliers prepare, we have released the Skills Guarantee PCP and created a range of resources to guide the management of eligible projects.

The Australian Skills Guarantee is using the Australian Government’s significant purchasing power to help address skills shortages and gender segregation in the construction and ICT sectors. We collaborated with key stakeholders across government and industry on the development and implementation of the Skills Guarantee PCP.
