Adult Learners Week is an international celebration of adult learning! It is a UNESCO initiative supported by the Department of Employment and Workplace Relations (DEWR) and coordinated by Adult Learning Australia (ALA).
In 2024, Adult Learners Week runs from 1–8 September and this year's theme, Take the Journey, emphasises that individuals can be in control of their own learning path and decide where they want to go. Anyone can take the journey through education, regardless of their age or stage in life.
We’re shining a spotlight on Brendan Reid and Casey Fox.
Brendan Reid
A dedicated and passionate individual, Brendan works with students to overcome literacy and numeracy challenges and supports them to complete their qualifications.
Casey Fox
When Casey found herself out of work during the COVID-19 pandemic, she boldly used the opportunity to pursue a Certificate IV in Training & Assessment with St George and Sutherland Community College (SGSCC).
This Adult Learners Week, we encourage you to explore the various learning opportunities available to you. Why not start by exploring some of our department programs that are available:
- The Skills for Education and Employment (SEE) program
- The Mature Age Hub
- Fee-Free TAFE
- Career Transition Assistance
