Jaewoo and his partner Camille started their craft company business, Kossalii. Camille had a flair for printmaking and Jaewoo had expertise as a leather artisan. Using these two skills, they started a business of handcrafting leather accessories combining traditional techniques with modern designs.
While their products are unique, Jaewoo and Camille found it challenging to promote their business, brand and products. They had limited knowledge in marketing and networking and needed guidance on how they could increase visibility of their products and take their business to the next level.
Through Workforce Australia Self-Employment Assistance (Self-Employment Assistance) and with the help of his Self-Employment Assistance provider Asuria, Jaewoo received tailored support to grow the business such as developing a comprehensive business plan. With help of his business mentor, he transitioned into Small Business Coaching, where he was provided with dedicated guidance in marketing strategies, confidence-building, and forging partnerships with potential retail outlets to support his business.
“Mentoring and coaching Jaewoo has been a great learning experience. Understanding his cultural background, how this is a main part of the creation and development of different products as well as how he has grown into the role of a business owner, has been remarkable,” his business mentor Leigh said.
Self-Employment Assistance had an amazing impact on Jaewoo's confidence. He embraced new challenges and eagerly faced any changes to his business that aligned with his entrepreneurial goals. His business now stands strong, with Jaewoo revamping his business plan and customer base to pave way for even more growth and success. He is now working on transforming his business website and social media presence, strategically targeting the right customers, and finding other ways to improve his marketing strategy.
“The benefits I got from this program are the guidance I was given on restructuring my business, I was presented with new directions for my business and given help and support,” Jaewoo said.
Jaewoo will continue Self-Employment Assistance, with his business mentor looking forward to providing him with ongoing guidance and assistance to reach his business goals.
