The Australian and New South Wales governments are jointly investing $53.95 million to establish the TAFE NSW – Western Sydney Advanced Manufacturing Centre of Excellence at the Wetherill Park Campus.
The Western Sydney Advanced Manufacturing Centre of Excellence will focus on advanced manufacturing, food and beverage manufacturing, and pharmaceutical manufacturing.
The Minister for Skills and Training, the Hon Andrew Giles MP, said, “The Centre of Excellence in Advanced Manufacturing will lead to the delivery of high-quality and responsive skills training in a sector critical to our economy.”
The Western Sydney Advanced Manufacturing Centre of Excellence will give students access to cutting-edge equipment to enrich their experience and support innovation. Students will have access to cutting edge equipment and technology, including:
- smart factories, including industry 4.0 training factories
- industrial 3D printing, high accuracy and smart sensing advanced manufacturing technologies
- robotic & automated manufacturing.
The Australian Government is investing in TAFE Centres of Excellence as part of the National Skills Agreement. It is supporting ongoing investments from the Australian and NSW governments to improve our manufacturing sovereign capability and integration of digital technology.
The TAFE NSW – Advanced Manufacturing Centre of Excellence is the fifth to be established under the National Skills Agreement.
Background information
TAFE Centres of Excellence will increase collaboration between TAFEs, through partnerships with employers, unions, universities and other stakeholders. They will deliver the skills people need for good, secure work and careers.
