  • How can industry be encouraged to connect with and use the VET system? What does this look like?
  • Are there any roles for industry in the VET system that are not covered or outlined in the case for change?

Where industry can have open and frank conversation free from RTO's and TAFEs hijacking the agenda.

Through peak bodies and setting industry feedback from industry stakeholders not RTO's

Real industry working groups made up of employers and unions who understand training and industry needs

Are qualifications fit-for-purpose in meeting the needs of industry and learners now and into the future? Why/why not?

  • Are the different needs of industry and learners effectively considered in designing qualifications in the current system? What works well and why?
  • Are there issues or challenges with the way qualifications are currently designed? What are they and what could be done to address these?

Response:

Yes many . If you do live in regional or remote location where the tasks of a certain trade don't reflect that of city or major training than TUFF.

North Qld only uses Block masonry and therefore if they want apprentices they need to come to Brisbane or find employer who can delivery the other parts yet not flexibility to do what is needed , End result employers walk away for vet system and apprentice numbers die

Are there any further issues in relation to improving industry engagement in the VET sector that you would like to provide feedback on?

Response:

Lack of flexibly and ability to self indenture or journeyman. why cant someone who has been working in an industry improve there skills VIA adult education or self education and get same support as a young person
