Australian and state and territory Skills and Education Ministers have endorsed a new skills focused degree level qualification for the vocational education and training (VET) sector.

The Vocational Degree will help educate and train the workforce Australia needs to support strategically important industries. The learning outcomes of a Vocational Degree are comparable to the existing Bachelor Degree delivered in the higher education sector, but qualifications will have a greater focus on advanced skill attainment, and the application of specialised knowledge and technical skills.
The Mining and Automotive Skills Alliance (AUSMASA) support the introduction of the Vocational Degree and will be the first Jobs and Skills Council to undertake a comprehensive study of Vocational Degrees and apprenticeships undertaken at higher qualification levels.
