The Local Recovery Fund is available in 51 Employment Regions (regions).

The Local Recovery Fund supports locally driven activities that:

  • meet priorities identified in the region’s Local Jobs Plan
  • are tailored to the opportunities and needs identified in the region
  • address employment and training priorities; and
  • skill individuals to meet local employer demand.

Local Recovery Fund activities are usually sought via a Request for Proposal procurement process. If you are interested in developing a Local Recovery Fund proposal, contact your local Employment Facilitator.

This activity delivered 8 weeks of mentoring and pre-employment training via virtual platforms and 12-months of wrap around support for 100 participants. The activity engaged with participants and industry partners to achieve job placements for at least 30 job seekers, with a particular focus on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander and Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD) participants.

Kalfresh Employment Solution

This activity included a training and employment project for job seekers from diverse backgrounds with Kalfresh, one of Queensland’s leading vegetable production companies. The project reskilled and supported the employment of these job seekers into the agribusiness sector in the region.

Maritime Ready

The activity involved a custom designed 7 week program and prepared First Nations, mature age and long term unemployed participants for entry-level roles in the maritime industry. Participants were screened for suitability for ongoing work by the employers, trained with relevant industry tickets and introductory elements based on accredited modules from Certificate III in Engineering and Fabrication and Certificate III Marine Craft Construction.

The activity involved a 4-week intensive program preparing participants to enter employment in a range of industries from traineeships in the Ipswich City Council, to jobs in local industry. The activity focused on long-term unemployed participants to achieve a minimum of 15 job placements and/or commencement in accredited qualifications.
