The Local Recovery Fund is available in 51 Employment Regions (regions).

The Local Recovery Fund supports locally driven activities that:

  • meet priorities identified in the region’s Local Jobs Plan
  • are tailored to the opportunities and needs identified in the region
  • address employment and training priorities; and
  • skill individuals to meet local employer demand.

Local Recovery Fund activities are usually sought via a Request for Proposal procurement process. If you are interested in developing a Local Recovery Fund proposal, contact your local Employment Facilitator.

Job Mates was a through-care model building on the Tribal Warrior Never Going Back program, which transitioned inmates back into the community to prevent recidivism. The program supported, in a culturally appropriate manner, the physical, mental, and emotional health of male Indigenous inmates.

Jobs in the Valley and Vines: Transforming Lives

This activity included a hospitality mentoring and employment project run by Smart Training and Consulting Group in the Hunter region. The project delivered a six-week non-accredited training program for participants, including a 30-hour work placement to secure hospitality jobs in the Hunter Valley.

Mining Industry Indigenous Pipeline Information Days

Planting the Seed

This activity focused on skilling young people with limited or no work experience for employment in landcare, forestry, and agriculture. The activity focused on developing soft skills, such as teamwork and communication, as well as provide hands-on experience in basic land management, and accredited training to prepare participants for employment, primarily in areas affected by COVID-19 and bushfires.

Professional Pathway Program

Riverina Discovery Weekend and Country Change Expo - 2024

The activity was delivered to showcase employment opportunities and growth industries through an employment expo. Participants engaged directly with local employers to enable pathways into apprenticeships, traineeships, and other in-demand roles.

SGW Intensive Technology Training Program

The activity delivered a set of two 12-week training bootcamps to prepare participants for roles in the technology industry. The Cross-Cultural Tech Bootcamp delivered IT Fundamentals and Amazon Web Services Cloud training to upskill and reskill displaced workers, migrants, Indigenous Australians and refugee participants. The Diversity Plus Digital Operations Bootcamp engaged young people to develop their workplace digital operations literacy, attain industry certifications, and deliver pathways into entry-level IT roles.

ShoreTrack Automotive Workshop

The activity had an automotive and metal fabrication focus for participants to build awareness of long-term career opportunities in the region. Participants developed employability and trades-based skills and were provided opportunities to experience a real workplace and develop networks with local employers.

South East Industry Engagement Project

The activity involved a broad marketing campaign targeting job seekers to participate in an industry information day and was delivered through social and mainstream media across the targeted areas. Industry engagement required jobs pledges in addition to industry tours to garner the number and type of jobs available. This activity was tailored to the needs of the region: Goulburn - aged care and trades/construction; Queanbeyan - trades/construction; and Cooma - trades/construction and retail.
