The National Regulatory Framework makes sure all students enrolled in VET in receive training and assessment services that are:

Reporting requirements

Registered training organisations must collect and and report on VET activity to the National VET Provider Collection.

Providers and courses for international students

The Commonwealth Register of Institutions and Courses for Overseas Students lists all Australian providers that offer courses to people studying in Australia on student visas.

VETNet has resources relating to the national VET sector.


Unique Student Identifier

Students need to have a valid Unique Student Identifier (USI) so a training organisation can:

  • Issue a qualification or statement of attainment
  • Link their USI to the National VET Data Collection, which ets students see:
    • All of their training results from all providers
    • All completed training units and qualifications
