- National Foundation Skills Strategy for Adults is a national plan to improve the foundation skills of working age Australians, including:

Training packages
Training packages are sets of competency standards and their related:

The standards are defined by industry and make sure that VET training meets their needs and the needs of businesses and students.
Quality
- Australian Qualifications Framework brings together the quality assured qualifications from across the education and training sector into a single framework
- Australian Skills Quality Authority regulates registered training organisations and makes sure they comply with national VET standards
- Victoria and Western Australia regulate registered training organisations which deliver training to domestic students only in those states. The VET regulators in those states are:

The National Regulatory Framework makes sure all students enrolled in VET in receive training and assessment services that are:

Providers and courses for international students
The Commonwealth Register of Institutions and Courses for Overseas Students lists all Australian providers that offer courses to people studying in Australia on student visas.
VETNet
VETNet has resources relating to the national VET sector.
Unique Student Identifier
Students need to have a valid Unique Student Identifier (USI) so a training organisation can:
- Issue a qualification or statement of attainment
- Link their USI to the National VET Data Collection, which ets students see:
- All of their training results from all providers
- All completed training units and qualifications
