The Local Recovery Fund is available in 51 Employment Regions (regions).

The Local Recovery Fund will cease on 30 June 2025 and will be consolidated into a single grants based fund.

The Local Recovery Fund supports locally driven activities that:

  • meet priorities identified in the region’s Local Jobs Plan
  • are tailored to the opportunities and needs identified in the region
  • address employment and training priorities; and
  • skill individuals to meet local employer demand.

Local Recovery Fund activities are usually sought via a Request for Proposal procurement process. If you are interested in developing a Local Recovery Fund proposal, contact your local Employment Facilitator.

The activity is focused on building entry-level skills within the retail, hospitality and tourism industries for participants across Port Augusta and Whyalla. The activity provides participants with hands-on, practical training with observational assessments and supports required to secure a desired employment opportunity.

"GoHospo" - Hospitality Skills Training for Beginners

An pre-employment program that delivered face to face accredited and hospitality training in a simulated work environment activity to 90 participants. The activity was delivered to support young people, Indigenous participants and participants from disadvantaged backgrounds.

This activity supported Indigenous participants to complete a pre-employment training and motivational course, industry-focused training, a placement with a host employer, and intensive mentoring support.

Sixty participants completed an Introduction to Construction Skill Set and employability skills training over a period (4 days per week). BYC prepared participants for jobs with South Australian Housing Authority (SAHA) contractors and provided support.

Building a Future in Nharangga Country

This project provided a culturally appropriate work-readiness program to support Indigenous job seekers over a 12-week period. Participants undertook accredited training, developed employability and practical skills relevant to local jobs in construction and building maintenance.

This activity assisted women (including long-term unemployed) to become job ready for the constructions industry. The activity offered foundation skills, an Introduction to Construction Skill Set (including White Card training) and a First Aid course.

This activity promoted local job opportunities to local participants in the region and provided access to employment information, pathways, and training through the expansion of the Upper Spencer Gulf Jobs local online platform. Under the project, Careers in Local Jobs Expos were held in Port Augusta and Whyalla, bringing together employers and job seekers to network and explore employment opportunities in the region, as well as industry focussed group sessions.

This activity assisted participants to become job ready for the civil sector by participating in employability skills and civil industry accredited training. The training aimed to increase industry work readiness and exposure by placing participants into traineeships, apprenticeships, or employment in the civil sector.

Connect Match Support - Driver Education South East 2.0

This activity involved Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD) participants from migrant and refugee backgrounds in the Limestone Coast. Participants received pre-employment support and training, together with driver mentor support to attain their Driver's Licence, resulting in a better opportunity to gain meaningful employment.

Connect, Match, Support and Driver Education South East

The activity supported refugee and migrant participants to gain employment through three components: • Driver mentor program – skilled driving mentors assisted participants to gain their probationary licence and provide vehicle safety education • Job readiness training – one-to-one mentoring, English and computer training, access to volunteering opportunities, and job application and interview support; and • Connect/Match/Support – participants connected with employers to fill local employment opportunities.
