The Local Recovery Fund is available in 51 Employment Regions (regions).

The Local Recovery Fund will cease on 30 June 2025 and will be consolidated into a single grants based fund.

The Local Recovery Fund supports locally driven activities that:

  • meet priorities identified in the region’s Local Jobs Plan
  • are tailored to the opportunities and needs identified in the region
  • address employment and training priorities; and
  • skill individuals to meet local employer demand.

Local Recovery Fund activities are usually sought via a Request for Proposal procurement process. If you are interested in developing a Local Recovery Fund proposal, contact your local Employment Facilitator.

A pre-employment work readiness program addressed barriers to work and partnered with local employers with jobs on offer. Participants gained sustainable employment, accredited training in either Civil Construction or Resources and Infrastructure, and non-accredited training including work preparation skills, time management, improved confidence and communication skills. Participants were also supported to address other barriers to employment including numeracy and literacy, drug and alcohol use, personal hygiene and family and relationship issues.

Mid Murray Road to River Recovery

The activity involved upskilling long term unemployed participants, boosting their confidence, mental and physical work readiness. All participants gained formal qualification in Introduction to Construction. The activity also led participants into employment, further training and gaining learners/provisional driving licences.

Mid-Murray Road to Flood Recovery

The activity utilised the tasks of flood recovery to re-engage 12 long term unemployed participants. Participants were supported in developing a pathway into stable employment within the region. It offered work supervision, mentoring, employability skills, fitness for work and a chance to connect with the community and council to build the confidence, engagement and self-motivation.

Migrant and Refugee Employment Project

This activity provided migrants and refugees aged 16 to 64 with integrated employment, vocational and mental health support to increase and sustain their employment outcomes.

Multicultural Employment Pathways Program

The activity was delivered to support participants with refugee or migrant backgrounds to undertake pre-employment workshops and participate in industry specific information sessions and visits. Participants were supported throughout the project with translation services and bi-cultural case workers.

This activity included a training and employment project, to assist unemployed people, including Indigenous job seekers, to gain the qualifications, skills and experience to work in the care sector at Aboriginal Family Support Services.

This activity provided participants the opportunity to participate in a one-month structured training program tailored to meet employers’ needs resulting in an apprenticeship or alternative employment in the horticulture industry.

Open Roads Project

This activity supported Indigenous and/or ex-offending participants in a 4-week accredited traffic management and non-accredited work ready skills training. On completion, participants were able to be employed and mentored by an employer.
