The agriculture, forestry and fishing industry produces food. It does this by raising animals, planting crops, and fishing. The industry consists of:

  • agriculture

  • aquaculture
  • forestry and logging
  • fishing
  • hunting and trapping.

There are entry level jobs in the industry. Sheep, beef cattle and grain farming are the largest sectors. These employ more than 45% of the industry workers.1

The Australian agriculture, forestry and fishing industry employs 304,100 people. It ranks number 14 in terms of employment across all industries.2
