Roles:

  • Container loaders/unloaders in Lytton, Queensland.
  • Employment is initially casual at $32.09 per hour, minimum of 15 hours per week and up to 35 hours, leading to permanent part-time and full-time within 6 months.

There are 3 shift options that will be discussed with you to determine the best shift/s that will meet your needs and capacity:

  • Stock decant – starting 5 am or 7:30 am
  • Container unloading – starting 5 am or 7:30 am
  • Stock manual sort – starting 5 am or 11:40 am

Job description

Tasks involved:

  • Assist with physical aspects of loading and unloading shipping containers at the distribution centre.
  • Follow all policies and procedures and work instructions to ensure that work is completed safely and to an acceptable standard.
  • Effectively operate in a team environment to achieve daily workload targets, including treating all YGCC team members, customers, and any other person with respect.

The employer is looking for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people who are:

Prerequisites required:

  • No pre-existing medical conditions that would prevent you from the physical requirements of the role.
  • Basic reading and writing skills.
  • Have 100 points of valid Identification.

Project activities

  • Culturally appropriate life and workplace skills training tailored to the job.
  • A site tour, giving exposure to the site layout, traffic management plans, operational flows, and workplace expectations.
  • Tasks in a simulated work environment supervised by experienced team members and supported and coached by a dedicated project mentor.
  • Culturally appropriate mentoring to support you during the project and when you commence in employment, for up to 6 months.
  • Accredited training to get a licence to operate a forklift truck.
