The Local Recovery Fund is available in 51 Employment Regions (regions).

The Local Recovery Fund supports locally driven activities that:

  • meet priorities identified in the region’s Local Jobs Plan
  • are tailored to the opportunities and needs identified in the region
  • address employment and training priorities; and
  • skill individuals to meet local employer demand.

Local Recovery Fund activities are usually sought via a Request for Proposal procurement process. If you are interested in developing a Local Recovery Fund proposal, contact your local Employment Facilitator.

A pre-employment program that involved upskilling, mentoring and employment placement to support Indigenous participants. It provided mentoring supports to participants to achieve national accreditations, enabling participants to obtain tickets in rigging and dogging. The objective of the activity was to place at least 28 participants into sustainable employment in the construction/mining industry.

Painting and Plumbing Experience (P&PE)

The activity aimed to introduce participants to the plumbing or painting industry through a pre-employment program, which included theoretical and practical training, mentoring support for Aboriginal participants, and National Work Experience Program (NWEP) placements for each participant. It aimed to provide a pathway into the plumbing or painting industries, with participants able to enter a pre-apprenticeship or direct apprenticeship employment upon completion.

This activity supported Indigenous, culturally and linguistically diverse, and young participants to gain their driver’s licence and move into employment. The program delivered driving lessons, resilience training, education to purchase a vehicle, and assistance to move into employment.
