How information from participant surveys is used and where the results can be found.

The department uses the information from participant surveys to show the rate of employment and education outcomes for different groups of participants when they take part in employment services. The department aggregates information and does not release person level data.

Post Program Monitoring Surveys – Labour Force Survey

The Labour Force Survey provides information on the employment and education status of participants in three key Workforce Australia employment programs – Workforce Australia Online, Workforce Australia Services and Transition to Work (TtW). Participants who were in (caseload) or have exited (exits) any of the three programs in the reference period can receive the survey.

The survey is conducted on a monthly basis. Results are calculated for a 12-month period and updated quarterly.

Post Program Monitoring Surveys – Quality and Progress Survey

The Quality and Progress Survey provides information on participant satisfaction with their service provider and their progress to employment in two Workforce Australia employment programs – Workforce Australia Services and Transition to Work (TtW). Participants who were on the caseload of either program and serviced by their provider for at least 91 days can receive the survey.

The survey is conducted on a monthly basis. Results are calculated for a 12-month period and updated quarterly.

Workforce Australia Transition Surveys – Results

The department has recently conducted two surveys of participants, asking about their experiences of the transition to Workforce Australia.

The first survey ran from 28 July to 4 August 2022, with participants asked about their understanding of Workforce Australia, the helpfulness of various information sources, and their early impressions of the service.

Of those who were invited, 16.3 per cent (or around 3,000 people) responded to the survey, either online or by phone.

The results, provided below, are reported for respondents overall, as well as being broken down by several key demographics. The survey methodology is also provided.

The second survey ran from 8 August to 25 August and focused on communication methods, accessing information about changes to employment services and general disruption to participant services.

Of those who were invited, 17.2 per cent (or around 2,800 people) responded to the survey, either online or by phone.

The results, provided below, are reported for respondents overall, as well as being broken down by several key demographics. The survey methodology is also provided.

Surveys form the basis of many of the key performance indicators reported in the Department of Employment and Workplace Relations Annual Report.

Other ways survey data is used

The department also uses information from surveys to review employment services programs and providers.

Occasionally, the survey results feed into other reports that the department publishes for external use. Survey data is always aggregated for reporting purposes.

Employment Services Outcomes reports

Under Job Services Australia and jobactive, each quarter the Employment Services Outcomes report was released. Each report shows the employment and education outcomes of people who take part in employment services over a 12-month period. These reports are available for each quarter from March 2013 to March 2022.
