Improving policies and processes to recruit women in Tech

Immersive Technologies is the world's largest supplier of mining equipment simulators. They work with mining operations and equipment manufacturers to solve industry problems. This includes areas of safety, productivity, reactive maintenance and availability of skilled personnel.

Immersive Technologies is committed to the principles of equal employment opportunities. They joined the Workforce Australia - Career Revive program with the aim to:

• increase female representation in their Perth-based teams
• renew and formalise supports for women at work, including Returners.

Immersive Technologies focused their energies on attraction, onboarding, and policies. The aim is to create a workplace that is more attractive and supportive for women and Returners.

The Immersive Technologies HR team have received support from their Executive on the Career Revive Action Plan. The Immersive Technologies HR team are:

• reviewing their formalised policies to better support Returners by assessing their flexible work policies and potentially introducing paid parental leave
• rethinking the onboarding processes and exploring ways to make onboarding inclusive, tailored, and engaging for all staff
• introducing more inclusive language into job advertisements
• discussing alternate avenues to attract new people, including partnerships with community organisations and training pathways with educational institutions
• focusing on updating policies, processes and physical infrastructure (breastfeeding rooms and female changerooms) to better support female employees and Returners.
