Supporting Women Back to Work

C.ex Group is a registered Ex-Services Memorial and Sporting Club. As part of the Workforce Australia - Career Revive program, C.ex Group aims to:

  • adopt a new and flexible approach to recruit and retain women
  • address negative public perceptions about job security in the hospitality industry, and
  • establish a pathway for skilled and unskilled women to enter and progress within the industry.

C.ex Group has implemented several new initiatives, including:

  • trialling a supported returner program, the Women Back to Work initiative. The program connects women who have been out of work with employment opportunities to support them to transition back to work.
  • connecting with representatives in NSW Justice to investigate the idea of an ex-offender employment program. Pending further investigation, the C.ex Group will conduct a risk assessment of roles and explore future opportunities.
  • providing a safe space for a nursing mother. C.ex Group intends to build a purpose-built safe room for nursing mothers and staff to decompress. The room will be a clean, comfortable and private space.

C.ex Group designed, advertised, implemented and evaluated their pilot returner program within Career Revive. The Ex-Services Memorial and Sporting Club supported Sarah, a new returner, through their program, offering her a permanent, part-time position following a 3-month trial. With C.ex Group’s support, Sarah reported an increase in her confidence levels. Her mentor Amanda reported she showed promise in undertaking future mentoring and training roles.
